Privacy Policy
Protecting your privacy is important to Royal Bank. We want you to understand what information we collect and how we use it. This notice may be amended from time to time at our discretion.
Confidentiality and Security
We restrict access to your personal and account information to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information.
What Information We Collect
“Nonpublic personal information” is nonpublic information about you that we obtain in connection with providing a financial product or service to you. For example, nonpublic personal information includes information regarding your account balance, payment history, and overdraft history.
We may collect “nonpublic personal information” about you from the following sources:
- Information we receive from you on applications or other forms, such as name, address, assets and income;
- Information about your transactions with us or others, such as your account balance, payment history, parties to transactions, and credit usage; and
- Information we receive from third parties including credit bureaus, such as your creditworthiness and payment history.
What Information We Disclose – Nonaffiliated Third Parties
We are permitted under law to disclose nonpublic personal information about you to nonaffiliated third parties in certain circumstances. For example, we use third parties to print your checks and provide ATM services; to government entities in response to subpoenas; and to credit bureaus. We currently do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our customers or former customers to nonaffiliated third parties, except as permitted by law.
We may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above, to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements.
What Information We Disclose – Affiliates
“Affiliates” include companies related to us by common control or ownership. Our affiliates are financial service providers, such as our holding company, Royal Bancshares, Inc., and Royal Insurance Services, Inc.
We are permitted under law to share information about our experiences or transactions with you or your account (such as your application, account balance, payment history, and copies of the insurance declaration pages on property used as collateral for your loan account with us) with our affiliates.
This enables us to offer you personalized products and services, at lower costs and/or much greater convenience. For example, a tailored insurance quote will allow you to compare coverage and costs.
We currently do not share information obtained from third parties with our affiliates, including:
- Information from a consumer report, such as your credit score or credit history.
- Information we obtain to verify representations made by you, such as your accounts with others.
- Information we obtain from a person regarding its employment, credit, or other relationship with you, such as your employment history.

We also do this to meet legal and regulatory requirements. If we think that a particular Royal Bank or affiliate account or service might be of benefit to you, we may occasionally contact you at your e-mail address to inform you of those products or services.
